Alfalfa selection for salt tolerance under conditions of irrigation

Abstract

The results of studies of the selection material of alfalfa for salt tolerance using salts of chloride and sodium sulphates, their mixtures in four different concentrations are presented. Salt tolerance of the samples has been estimated. Alfalfa variety Nadezhda has appeared to be the most resistant to salt stress. Breeding material has been selected, synthetic populations have been created with the help of polycross nursery. After a comprehensive evaluation there have been selected becrossing breed Sіn (s) S1BC1 with high performance, good characteristics of the root system (sand culture and a single standing of plants), as well as high yield of green mass, seeds in nurseries of the forage and seed use under field conditions.
